Notice to Residents – NLVaxPass

October 21, 2021

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is encouraging everyone in the province, 12 years of age or older, who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, to get vaccinated.  The province’s COVID-19 immunization program is important to ensuring the safety of residents and our communities, and to protecting the most vulnerable. The Town of Arnold’s Cove support this immunization program and echo the sentiments encouraging everyone who is eligible and able to receive their vaccinations.

Based upon the provincial COVID-19 mandatory vaccination policy and the vaccine passport program (NLVaxPass) which starts on Friday October 22, 2021, Council passed the following guidelines at the October 20, 2021 meeting:

Town Office, 270 Main Road

The Town Office is considered a government service and as per provincial health guidance, members of the public entering the Town Office are not required to show proof of vaccination. All other mandatory and recommended public health measures, such as mandatory masking in indoor spaces, distancing requirements, sanitization, barriers, etc. must be enforced. People who are feeling ill or showing symptoms of COVID-19 should not enter.

Community Centre, 38 Spencer’s Cove Road

The NLVaxPass is required at several municipally owned facilities, including arenas, recreational facilities, and at gatherings in rental rooms, community centres, etc.. As a result, any events taking place at the Community Centre will require proof of vaccination. If the event is hosted by the Town, municipal staff will scan your QR code before you enter. If you rent the facility to host a birthday party, baby shower, meeting, etc., it is the renter’s responsibility to scan your guests QR codes before they enter.

Recreation Building, 66 Spencer’s Cove Road

Like the Community Centre, events taking place at the Recreation Building will require proof of vaccination. If the event is hosted by the Town, municipal staff will scan your QR code before you enter. If you rent the facility to host a birthday party, baby shower, meeting, etc, it is the renter’s responsibility to scan your guests QR codes before they enter. For Town sponsored indoor recreational activities, as per provincial government guidelines, youth aged 12-18 will not require proof of vaccination.

Community Centre Gym, 38 Spencer’s Cove Road

The NLVaxPass is required to enter the community gym. When purchasing your gym card at the Town Office, municipal staff will scan your QR code. The card holder is the only person who can access the gym, and if it is discovered that your card has been used by anyone else, your gym membership will be cancelled and only returned when approved by a vote of Council.
