Mayor’s Message
Welcome to the Town of Arnold’s Cove Website.
In October 2017 the latest Council came into office and our team of councillors and staff have been working on new developments for our community.
Arnold’s Cove is the “Economic Hub” of the Isthmus of the Avalon Area. Icewater Seafood’s Inc. “State of the Art”, Seafood Processing factory, NTL/IMTT’s modern Oil Transshippment and Storage Facility, the nearby North Atlantic Oil Refinery and the Bull Arm Fabrication Yard as well as the many other businesses that service the major industries, provides an excellent economic base for our town.

Basil Daley
Mayor of Arnold’s Cove
Arnold’s Cove is the service centre for the Isthmus Area with services such as Motel/Restaurant, Medical/Dental Clinic, Banking, 2 Hardware Stores, 2 Supermarkets, Liquor Store and Public Library. We have residential building lots available with breathtaking views of Placentia Bay and our commercial/industrial park has large serviced lots available at very reasonable rates.
From tourism prospective, Arnold’s Cove offers visitors a beautiful hiking trail along the Old Cabot Highway for approximately 3 km and the option to hike to the top of “Arthur’s Hill” which will give you a great view of Arnold’s Cove and the area, or you can hike our Bordeaux Trail (approx 10km return) which will take you along the rugged coastline until you reach Bordeaux where the original settlers to Arnold’s Cove made their homes in the early 1930’s.
Our Bird Sanctuaries offer bird watchers the opportunity to view a large variety of migratory birds and our Placenta Bay lookout will give you a breathtaking panoramic view of Placentia Bay, the many islands that were resettled in the 1960’s and the industry that makes this area one of the most prosperous in the province.
Before 1966 and the Provincial Government Resettlement Program, Arnold’s Cove had a population of approximately 200 residents and in 2 years grew to 1000. This population remains today.
